The security arrangements at the New York’s Times Square was in full swing three to four days ahead of the New Year Celebrations eve. The main reason for this high-end security for New Year eve celebration at Times Square was to make the people safe and allow them to usher in the New Year safely.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) does not want to take any chance with the lives of over 1 million people assembling at the Times Square to welcome the New Year. The reason for tight security at the venue was due to failed pipe bombing in December. Another incident that made the NYPD to increase vigil and security at Times Square was the vehicle attack on Halloween.
The NYPD took strong measures to ensure the revelers’ safety. They stepped up patrols, brought in heavy weapon squads and old concrete barriers and canine teams to ensure safety and security of the people. The vehicles were not allowed to motor on the places where the event was held.
There were officers positioned at all the hotels located on the 7th Avenue. There was special emphasis on the aerial surveillance. The NYPD used all the available sources at their disposal to ensure the safety of the revelers on New Year Eve celebration at Times Square.
